Interactive Nutritions Mammoth 2500 is one of the worlds most renowned weight gainer protein shakes. Launched in the late 1990's, this weight gainer brought something to the market that nobody had seen before: high calorie consumption at a dirt cheap price. Obviously the calorie contents where not as high quality as other protein shakes on the market but if you needed high calories then Mammoth 2500 was a good place to start.
As with many weight gainers Mammoth 2500 sugar came with a high sugar content. Sugar (in the form of carbohydrates) offers 4kcal per gram of Mammoth 2500 sugar and can be consumed in large quantities. Consumers should be aware however that consuming high quantities of low grade sugar will result in an increase in body fat. The body will convert excess sugar into body fat for storage, hence the reason weight gainer protein shakes should only be taken by hard gainers.
Controversy hit Interactive Mammoth 2500 recently when the company was taken over by a group of American Bankers. Seemingly out to make a quick buck, the investors who purchased the brand further lowered the quality of Mammoth 2500 even further, creating a weight gainer that was still high in calories but very low in protein, carb (sugar) and fat quality.
So where should hard gainers turn too? If Mammoth 2500 sugar is a little too rich for you and you feel you will just gain fat and not muscle, then your best bet at an alternative would be Applied Nutrition Critical Mass 2700.
Critical Mass 2700: Offering High protein levels with carbohydrates and significant levels of MCT oils. Critical Mass adds even further muscle developing and physique enhancing properties with the most advanced EFA fat blend - adding CLA, Flax and MCT to fuel your perfect hormonal environment for muscle growth. Applied Nutrition Critical Mass 2700 contains the most advanced 52g of protein per dose, coupled with a super complex carbohydrate matrix (no bog-standard tate and lyle sugars here) - including the phenomenal muscle enhancing waxy maize starch (WMS).
So the long and short of it: Interactive Mammoth 2500 sugar equals high sugar and low quality, whilst Applied Nutrition Critical Mass 2700 offers a high quality nutrients and good quality calories at practically the same price.
