My personal opinion on prohormonesIt is my belief that anyone who takes prohormones (or steroids, gH, etc) is not a very clever person. But first, what are prohormones? What are prohormones?Prohormones are substances which can be expected to be converted into hormones by the body upon ingestion. The obvious question that comes to mind is "isn't that what steroids are?" Not quite. Steroids are actual hormones, so another substance which will become hormones were a sort of technicality in which people could legally acquire the effects of steroids. So why are prohormones so bad?For all of the same reasons that steroids are! Baldness, male breast growth, testicle shrinkage, acne, and liver disease don't sound so appetizing to me. While these side effects are not a guarantee (except for the testicle shrinkage- after all, what do you need balls for if you can do their job with a drug? The human body is very efficient, and just as your muscles shrink if you don't use them, so will your testicles if you replace them with steroids.) Even with excellent Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) there are still side effects such as acne, as well as the risk of liver or kidney problems. Honestly, bodybuilding is about aesthetics, and if your muscles are covered in disgusting pimples who will be impressed? Also, I thought we were doing this to be "healthy" and "fit". Setting yourself up for kidney or liver failure doesn't seem to make sense for a person involved in the "fitness industry" now does it? Are the new prohormones safe? But wait, weren't these the bad, old ones that the government saved us by banning? Don't we have wonderful, safe, new ones today? Maybe we have new ones, but they can't possibly be both safe and effective. There is no easy way out. You can't find a safe substance which changes your hormonal make-up. Life is about meeting challenges in fair, honest ways, not messing with body chemistry to get an edge. If you train in brief, intense, infrequent sessions, eat and sleep a lot, and take basic supplements like creatine, whey powder, glutamine you will grow and and develop to your genetic potential, whatever that is, relatively quickly. When you make it there you may not be Mr. Olympia but at least you will be able to look in the mirror and say "this is me, I did this, no one else." Your success will belong to you, not to a chemist. ConclusionHopefully if you're serious about getting fit, and really want to change your body, you're not going to cheat and take any shortcuts. I believe we have all learned this lesson at least once in life that cheating gets you nowhere. There are basic and safe supplements that will help you reach your goals. Be true to yourself and kind to your body. Avoid substances that have negative side effects and reach your fitness goals the all natural way with hard work. Rather than use ProHormones, you should consider potent natural testosterone supplements such as the ever popular Anabolic Designs Tauro Test, or Gaspari Nutrition Viridex XT. |
